- My Provantage catalog (issue #34 )lists this:
-
- "Borland C++ 5.0 update on CD-ROM, $121.00*"
-
- Note the asterisk. The fine-print for the asterisk is as follows:
-
- "After $100 mail-in rebate from Borland C++ 4.5. $50 rebate from
- Borland for owners of C++ 4.0 and Delphi. Prices, terms, conditions,
- or offers may change at any time."
-
- This means the pre-rebate Provantage price is $221.00, which is more
- than Borland's ~$200 direct upgrade price (a Borland postcard I got
- says $199.95).
-
- Unless the rebate turns out to be a special deal only with Provantage,
- I would be optimistic that you'll find a rebate coupon in your Borland-
- direct box.
-
- If not, and Borland is giving the "raw deal" to direct customers, just
- return your 5.0 to Borland using their "no nonsense" 30-day MBG, and
- then order from Provantage or somewhere.
